MBBCh · MSc (Surgery) · MD (Neurosurgery)
Neuro-spinal surgery with a focus on endoscopic and minimally invasive techniques, complex spinal reconstruction, and the surgical treatment of trigeminal neuralgia. Practicing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since 2010; teaching at Ain Shams University since 2002.

Dr. Osama Dawood is a consultant neurosurgeon whose practice is built around the spine. He heads the Neurosurgery and Spine Surgery Unit at Dr. Bakhsh Hospital in Jeddah, a post he has held since 2013, and holds an academic appointment as Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at Ain Shams University in Cairo, where he has taught since 2002.
A practice built around neuro-spinal surgery, academic teaching and minimally invasive technique.
He trained entirely at Ain Shams University — MBBCh with honors in 1997, a Master of Surgery in 2001 on surgical approaches to the cavernous sinus, and a doctorate in 2006 on the endoscopic management of degenerative and discogenic disease of the dorsal and lumbar spine. That doctoral work set the direction of the practice that followed. He spent 2005 as a clinical fellow in spine surgery at Ege University in Izmir under Professor Mehmet Zileli, and the same year worked alongside Professor Ali Fahir Özer on endoscopic spinal procedures at the American Hospital, Koç University, Istanbul.
Since qualifying as a consultant in Saudi Arabia in 2010, he has practiced continuously in the Kingdom. At Almoosa Specialist Hospital in Al Ahsa he founded and led the region's first neuro-spinal surgery unit in a private hospital. At Dr. Bakhsh Hospital he has additionally served as Head of the Operating Room Department and Head of the Emergency Department, alongside his clinical work.
His published work spans anterior cervical fusion techniques, interspinous spacers and lumbar stenosis, thoracolumbar fracture fixation, radiofrequency treatment of trigeminal neuralgia, and depressed skull fractures overlying the dural venous sinuses. He has presented at the Congress of Neurological Surgeons in Boston and Washington, the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies interim meeting in Brazil, and the World Spine Society in Istanbul, and has served as laboratory faculty on cadaveric spine courses in Izmir run in conjunction with the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
He consults in Arabic and English.
